Consulting

Mural, project & general development

Beginnings can be overwhelming. Trial and error, tedious. In consulting sessions I prepare artists for the entirety of a project, or lend custom support to systems as needed.

Project Management

on-site support

Composing a mural is so much more than painting a wall. In a management role, I take on logistics and legwork, freeing up lead artists to focus on their art.

let me be your hands

Not every artist has time for or an interest in the long hours, physical labor, and public nature of large scale mural installation. Assuming the role of muralist, I translate any artist’s work to large scale, replicating style down to the brush stroke.

Consulting

With fifteen years experience in Public Art and mural installation, I’ve refined a clear and easeful process. A first mural commission raises questions regarding fee negotiation, the drafting of a precise contract, and warranting the work with final protective sealant coats. Working together in consultation sessions, privy to all of my secrets, eliminates the frustrating and costly trial and error associated with coming up and into your practice.

General Business/Project Consultation available upon request.

”Hiring Leah as a mural consultant was the best decision, as I have gained much knowledge and confidence in navigating the business side of painting murals professionally. The protocols for a mural commission, in all their “legal glory”, are hard to obtain in art school or piece together from other artists you may know. It was invaluable to tap into the plethora of experienced information of a professional muralist of 10+ years. Leah guided me through my first big commission, and I really appreciated how she cared to check in on my progress and made herself available to help at every step of the way. The cost is worth it, and I look at it as an investment in my future -- I have already applied what I learned towards other projects.”

”I first met Leah through mutual friends at her art studio. My first impression was that she was lovely, professional and really talented. I had been a visual artist for years, making posters, paintings and illustrations; but had yet to create something large scale. I visited Leah while she was working on a mural in Oakland and was thoroughly inspired by her work. She mentioned in that meeting that she had a consultation service to assist artists with their initial large scale projects. About a year later I was asked to create my first mural in San Francisco. The task seemed daunting and overwhelming, yet very exciting. I called Leah, and shortly after she became my project manager. She walked me through every step of the way, from concept design to installation. She was a total joy to work with and highly professional. Her insights and expertise were elemental not only to the project itself but also to my education in becoming a professional muralist.”
